Our Learning Facility

Main Classroom
Well lit and at the front of our learning center, the main classroom has 4 large tables where students complete morning work, collaborate on activities and projects, and eat lunch each day!

Movement Room
With plenty of room for group movement activities, the movement room is perfect for sprawling out during morning meeting with snacks and journals, doing movement activities or yoga, and providing flex space when we have big projects.

Focus Rooms (featuring the Science Room)
Many of our small focus rooms have a table with a 4 student capacity as well as a bookshelf and wall posters highlighting the room's theme. For example, the science room has a microscope, rock sample, and a variety of books and activities related to insects and bugs, magnets and more!

Other focus rooms contain items related to geography, engineering, pretend play, emotional regulation, board games, literacy, and creative arts.

Focus Room (featuring the Building Room)
Many students find the building room very regulating and creative. With a rotating selection of building materials (legos, magnatiles, marble runs, and more), the building room is consistently a place for learners who rely on hands on activities as a way of focusing, while exercising the interpersonal skills gained by working in teams to build together.

Regulating Spaces
We pride ourselves on meeting our kids where they are. For a variety of reasons, sometimes our students just need a minute, either on their own or with a trusted adult, to regulate or debrief when things don't go their way or they are overstimulated. We have two rooms at Beacon where kids can choose to take a short break or sit with friends and read quietly during focus rooms if they need a reset.

Outdoor Spaces
We are so fortunate that the location of our facility is adjacent to three different playgrounds, paved and maintained walking paths in Woodlake, and large grassy areas where kids can play, run, and socialize nearly year round. With the exception of extreme weather, we make sure students are outside daily, whether through play or structured nature studies.
