Students Collaborating

Beacon Academic Club

A professional study studio located in Woodlake, Midlothian for  middle and high schoolers to master the "how" of school.

We aren't just a study hall. We are an Executive Functioning Lab. Whether your student attends a traditional school or is homeschooled, we teach the "meta-skills" required for college and career success.

What We Offer

Between sports, clubs, and high-pressure classes, the "second shift" of school often falls on the parents. At Beacon Academic Club, we provide a structured, teacher-led environment where students learn to manage their time, organize their lives, and get their work DONE before they get home.

How a Session Works (Mon/Thurs 4:30–6:30 PM)

  • 4:30 – 4:40 | The Launchpad: We audit digital portals (Canvas/Schoology), organize physical materials, and clear the mental "deck" for focus.

  • 4:40 – 4:55 | The Strategy: Students learn professional time-blocking. We don't just "do homework," we prioritize tasks by urgency and effort.

  • 4:55 – 6:20 | The Work Block: 85 minutes of intentional, deep work. A VA-certified teacher is on-hand to provide study tips, clarify content, and assist with college or job applications.

  • 6:20 – 6:30 | The Future-Proof: We close by reflecting on progress, color coding or prioritizing our incomplete tasks. Parents receive a daily "exit ticket" with student progress and future goals, signed by the on-site certified teacher.

Why Families Love the Club

For the Students: Total Freedom

  • Minimizing Homework at Home: Imagine a weekend that actually belongs to you.

  • The "Body Doubling" Effect: It’s easier to focus when everyone else is, too. Perfect for students who struggle to get started.

  • Level Up: Learn the time-management hacks that make school take less time.

For the Parents: Total Peace of Mind

  • Certified Oversight: Your student is coached by a licensed teacher, not just a peer tutor.

  • Accountability Without the Friction: We handle asking questions about missing work, encouraging professional communication with their teachers, and building the core skills they will need in their post-high school lives.

  • Independence Training: We bridge the gap between parent-led and self-led learning—essential for the transition to college.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my student have to come on the same day every week? No! Our "Academic Gym" model is flexible. Use your credits for any Monday or Thursday session. If you miss a Monday due to a game, just join us on Thursday.

Is this only for kids who are struggling? Not at all. Beacon Academic Club is for the "high-achiever" who is overwhelmed by a heavy AP load, the "creative" student who needs help with organization, and the "homeschooler" looking for external accountability and a professional environment.

What about ADHD or students with learning differences? Our structure is built on "Body Doubling" and "Time-Blocking," two of the most effective strategies for neurodivergent learners. We provide the "scaffolding" they need to initiate and finish tasks.

Meet Your Program Director

Bethany Wolfe

The Experience You Can Trust Bethany is a veteran secondary educator with years of experience in both middle and high school classrooms. As a Virginia-licensed teacher, she understands the academic pressures students face today. While she recently transitioned out of the traditional classroom to homeschool her own children, her passion for mentoring teenagers remains at the heart of her work.

A Mentor in Their Corner Beacon Academic Club was born from Bethany’s desire to stay connected with the age group she loves most. She knows that for a student to become a successful, self-sufficient adult, they often need a third-party mentor to coach them through the hurdles of organization and accountability.

The Mission "I genuinely miss the relationships I built in the classroom," says Bethany. "Beacon Academic Club allows me to bring that mentorship to a smaller, more intentional setting. I love being the adult in a student's corner who helps them realize they are capable of managing their own success."

At Beacon, Bethany combines her professional teaching expertise with a genuine talent for building the student-teacher connections that make real growth possible.
