Meet the Teachers
At Beacon, we believe that education is only as strong as the relationships behind it. Our staff isn't 'cookie-cutter' because our students aren't either. Each of our educators brings a unique mosaic of professional experience, personal talent, and a genuine heart for mentorship. We’ve built a team where different perspectives meet a shared mission: making sure every student feels seen, supported, and inspired. This isn’t just another classroom, it’s a community shaped by the people who lead it.
Ms. Brooke
Director of Learning and Family Engagement
2026-27 Lead Teacher (Mon - Thu)

If you have ever dropped your student off in the morning morning and felt that immediate, reassuring sense of, "They are in good hands," you have likely met Brooke Ruch.
As our Homeschool Lead Teacher, Brooke brings more than a decade of classroom expertise to Beacon RVA, possessing a rare gift for connecting with learners across all developmental stages, from our youngest explorers to our maturing teens.
However, Brooke's impact extends far beyond the classroom walls. She serves as a core architect of our homeschool department, spearheading all curriculum design, directing parent engagement initiatives, and collaborating closely on our long-term program vision. Her strategic leadership ensures our educational tracks remain innovative, cohesive, and deeply supportive of every family we serve.
This deep dedication to community is a natural extension of her personal life. As a mom with four Beacon kiddos of her own, she intimately understands exactly what parents look for in a safe, high quality, and nurturing environment.
Whether she is acting as our official morning greeting lead to ensure every child starts their day with an authentic smile or bringing her creative touch to a new baking or DIY project at home, Brooke firmly believes that kids grow best when their educational environment feels like home. We are incredibly fortunate that she brings her vision, heart, and expertise to our leadership team every single day.
Bethany Wolfe joined the Virginia homeschool community in 2024 after 12 years as a veteran public school educator. While she loved the classroom, she felt a calling toward a more relationship-driven way of teaching, one where she could truly mentor students through pivotal academic and emotional transitions.

Why we love having her at Beacon:
The Toolkit: 12 years of experience means she’s a master of student engagement and classroom safety.
The Perspective: As a homeschool mom herself, she understands the beauty (and the challenges!) of building a custom education for her kids.
The Heart: Her own Kindergarten and 1st graders are "Beacon Kids" who thrive on the same predictability and friendships we strive to give every student.

Bethany believes that every student’s academic journey is a story worth telling, and she’s honored to be a part of yours.

Ms. Courtney
2026-27 Enrichment Track (Tue / Thu) Co-Teacher
If you’re looking for the educator who can turn a simple curiosity into a full-blown discovery, you’ve found her in Courtney. With a natural passion for learning by doing, Courtney brings an infectious energy to Beacon that encourages every student to look a little closer at the world around them.

Why we love having her at Beacon:
The Scientist’s Mind: Courtney lives for hands-on experiments. She doesn’t just teach from a book; she helps students dive into the "how" and "why" of the world through tactile, engaging projects.
The Outdoor Connection: Whether it’s gardening or exploring the outdoors, Courtney believes that nature is one of our greatest teachers. She brings that fresh-air perspective into the classroom every day.
The Active Spirit: When she isn’t at Beacon, she’s likely on the move: exercising, playing tennis with her daughters, gardening or enjoying life at the lake.

Courtney believes that education should be an active journey, and she can’t wait to explore new horizons with your students this year!
