We are excited to continue to offer our homeschool co-op and microschool options again this coming fall! Our homeschool group is a mix of new friends and long-attending students, and we have offered homeschool programming and support since 2021.

If you are new to us, here are some reasons were are so proud to be Beacon RVA:

• Secular, unaffiliated with any specific religious or cultural practices and encouraging of each individual family's decisions about curriculum, holidays, and traditions

• Our Woodlake location allows us to offer a hybrid indoor/outdoor model as weather allows! We have walking access to 3 playgrounds, paved walking paths, open grassy areas for picnics or learning in the sun, and plenty of team building outdoor games and equipment to utilize throughout our year together.

• Each of our co-ops are a scaffolded, one group unit! This means that our full age bracket of students learn and participate together with and from each other. We cater activities and conversations to meet the needs of our various age levels, encouraging students to think critically and try new things for their ability but also always giving several options for students to choose from so they can feel empowered (for example, drawing a picture, writing a short sentence, or giving a paragraph response to a journal prompt at Morning Meeting).

• Our staff are consistent, long term, passionate educators who all bring different strengths to Beacon. Our teachers are encouraged in their roles at Beacon to be themselves, bring their strengths, and lead with their homeschooling parent and teaching intuitions.
